Goaltender From St. Vincent, Alberta Signs Letter Of Intent To Join Olds Grizzlys

Tristan Martin signed a letter of intent (LOI) in April to join the Olds Grizzlys for the upcoming AJHL season, after leading the Alberta Midget Hockey League in minutes played in 2019-2020.

A goaltender from St. Vincent, Alberta has signed a letter of intent to join the Olds Grizzlys for the upcoming AJHL season.

Grizzlys Vice President Trent Wilhauk tells us a bit more about Tristan Martin.

The 18 year old goalie is 6'2 and weighs 180 pounds.

Last season, he backstopped the Lloydminster Bobcats Midget AAA to their first playoff appearance in the Alberta Midget Hockey League since 2016. Martin was named the team's Most Valuable Player.

Martin lists his strengths as helping out his defencemen by making the first pass and staying calm in the crease.

He is an Edmonton Oilers fan but lists Carey Price as his favorite goaltender.

Martin and 18 year old Ty Marcinkowski from Camrose will have the opportunity to be the goaltending tandem for the Grizzlys next season. Marcinkowski played some of his best games for Olds in the final week of the 2019-2020 regular season and in the playoffs.

The Grizzlys saw 20 year old netminder Duncan Hughes from Rocky Mountain House graduate from their program this spring as he committed to play NCAA hockey in Rhode Island at Salve Regina University.
