Cory Noel

Cory is one of several staffers who have moved west to work in Olds. A farm kid from south east Manitoba originally, Cory has lived all over Manitoba before getting the call to move to the mountains and he says he's now a lifer. Cory is a diehard supporter of Country music, and has an encyclopedic knowledge of the history of Country music, both Canadian and American. He loves new music by artists like Jamey Johnson, Zac Brown Band, Sunny Sweeney and older artists like Keith Whitley and Alabama. Growing up listening to Canadian icons like George Fox, Rick Tippe, Michelle Wright and Foster Martin Band made Cory one of the biggest supporters of Canadian Country music. One of his passions is helping promote new Canadian artists, especially those from Alberta. Cory is the host of the annual CKFM Star Search competition to help find new artists, and helped create and launch Alberta's Country Music Association in 2008. Cory is also the Music Director at CKFM who programs and schedules the music every day and works with the artists and their record labels to bring you not only new music to the radio, but also arranges for all the CD give aways and phone interviews and live performances in the studio. Along with our Program Director Brian Stephenson, Cory has been nominated for two Canadian Country Music Association awards for Music Director Of The Year. When he's not working long hours at the radio station, Cory can be found at clubs checking out live music all through Calgary and Edmonton, and seen curling through the winter at the Olds and Didsbury, and in the summer he's golfing in Olds and Sundre and playing slopitch on several different teams from Carstairs to Red Deer and everywhere in between.
