Rob Turville, Pat Turville and Billy Way are giving back to the Olds Minor Hockey Association this season as part of the coaching staff for the Olds Midget AA Grizzlys.
A hometown hockey player is behind the bench for the Olds Midget AA Grizzlys as their Head Coach this season.
Rob Turville says working with the team has been a wonderful experience for him and his fellow first year coaches.
Rob suited up for the hometown Olds Grizzlys along with the Brooks Bandits during his career in the AJHL, before continuing his hockey career at the University of Wisconsin Superior. Pat played a couple AJHL games with the Grizzlys and nine more with the Drumheller Dragons, he also spent 2005-2010 with the HJHL's Mountain View Colts. Billy Way's Alberta Junior Hockey League career stretched from 2003-2006 - all three of those seasons were with the Olds Grizzlys. Rounding out the notable coaching staff is former WHLer Erik Benoit.
The Midget double 'A' Grizzlys will host the NWCAA Stamps on Friday, February 19th at 6:45 and Red Deer Indy comes to the main ice surface at the SportsComplex on Saturday, February 20th at 7:30.
Olds is currently tied for second place overall along with the Okotoks Oilers Black. Both those teams are four points back of the first place West Central Tigers.
Turville hopes playing their final four regular season games at home can help them close the gap.
The Midget AA Grizzlys have fifteen wins, just two losses and four ties in their last twenty-one games.
