Registration Night Approaching For Olds & District Special Olympics

Special Olympics Alberta will be celebrating returning and new members for the month of September with feature stories on oustanding achievements and contributions of its athletes and volunteers during the 2015 Fall Wind Up. Follow along on www.facebook.com/SpecialOAlberta and @SpecialOAlberta.

130 athletes competed for Olds & District Special Olympics last year. 
 
Karen Mengerson, Chairman of the local Special Olympics chapter, says they participate in a dozen different sports - everything from 5-pin bowling, baseball, swimming, and curling to basketball, soccer, golf and alpine skiing.
 
 
Mengerson their youngest athlete right now is 8 and their oldest is 65.
 

Special Olympics Alberta registrations are taking place across the province during the next few weeks. In Olds sign up is at the Nazerene Church on Thursday, September 10th from 6:30 until 8:30. 
 
Mengerson says they are currently looking for a coach for Rythmic Gymnastics as well.  Anyone intersted can find out more on-line by visiting www.specialolympics.ab.ca/olds.
