Olds Minor Baseball

Two teams from Olds will be gunning for Baseball Alberta provincial titles during the Heritage Day long weekend. Olds Minor Baseball President Greg Grover says the midget AA Spitfires are in Strathmore for the tier 1 championships and the tier 3 bantam AA team from Olds is in Slave Lake.

Approximately 200 kids were signed up for Olds Minor Baseball this season with those players participating in tee ball all the way up to the midget level.

O-M-B President Greg Grover says there is plenty of local interest in the sport.

He says three of the teams from Olds will compete for Baseball Alberta provincial championships during the next couple of weeks.

Expectations for success for the tier 1 midget AA Spitfires and the tier 3 bantam AA team from Olds at provincials are high, according to Grover.

He adds, the Olds Minor Baseball mosquito A community team and their pee wee community team both won gold at provincials last weekend.

Grover says Baseball Alberta's pee wee AA tier 2 provincials will be coming to the town of Olds from August 5th through the 7th.
