OKCS Royals Win 1-A Banner At South Central Zone Track & Field Meet

The Olds Koinonia Royals recently won their first ever 1-A Track & Field Zone Championship banner.

The Olds Koinonia Christian School Royals have collected another 2015-2016 championship banner.
Athletic Direcor Ken Terpstra says they were first in the team standings among the 1-A High Schools at the South Central Zone Track & Field meet on Tuesday, May 24th in Calgary at Foothills Athletic Park.
The Royals had finished 7th in the team standings at the 2015 Zone Track & Field meet.
Terpstra - who is also the OKCS track coach - says a couple of standout performers helped them win the Zone banner this year.
He explains how the 9 athletes they sent to Zones were able to help improve from 7th in the team standings in 2015 to first this year.
Bryce Parrott & Jeremiah Houben will both advance to represent the Royals at the ASAA Track & Field Provincials on June 3rd & 4th at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.
At Zones Houben was first in the junior javelin throw, while Parrott was second in intermediate high jump.
Meanwhile, Cremona High School was second behind Olds Koinonia in the 1-A team standings at this week's South Central Zone Track & Field meet.
Sundre High finished second among 2-A schools behind Strathcona Tweedsmuir.
Olds High School was 4th in the 3-A standings.
