OHS Spartans Set To Start 2015 Season

Following a trip to the Tier 4 South Regional Final last year, the Olds Spartans will be looking for more high school football success in 2015.

The high school football season opener for the Olds Spartans is rapidly approaching.

Head Coach George Grant's gridiron gang clashes with Sir Winston Churchill from Calgary on Friday, September 4th at 4:30 at Normie Kwong Park.

Coach Grant says numbers are down a little bit this fall at OHS with about 30 players ready to go. While they were not able to get into a league again this year, he says they will be tested by some strong teams as part another exhibition schedule for 2015.

With plenty of talented grade 12s returning, Coach Grant expects the Spartans to move the ball on offense.

On defense, he is looking for big things from a trio of key players.

The Spartans won 7 out of their 10 games during the 2014 season including a 34-19 semi-final win in Drumheller, which stopped the Titans bid for 4 straight championships.

OHS made its furthest push ever into the Football Alberta playoffs by getting to the Tier 4 South Regional Final last November before losing to the Willow Creek Cobras.
