OHS Spartans Conclude 2016 Spring Football Camp

22 students eager to hit the gridiron next fall participated in the recent spring camp for the Olds High School Spartans football team.

The Olds High School Spartans football team recently wrapped up its spring camp.
 
It featured grade 9 through 11 students who will be enrolled at OHS in the fall. Head Coach George Grant out of those 22 students 15 of them were new to the Spartans program.
 
 
Grade 10 student Cale Wright appears to be the front runner for the starting quarterback job but a couple of the current grade 9s are providing competition, according to Coach Grant.
 
 
He adds graduating senior quarterback Connor Jorgenson, receiver Zack Neustaeter and linebacker Revin Lalania came out to the spring camp to help with the development of the younger players for next year.
 
 
The Spartans were worked through 11 practices during the spring camp ahead of a controlled scrimmage versus Rocky Mountain House on Wednesday, May 25th. Rocky outscored Olds 3 touchdowns to 2 in the scrimmage.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian Football League pre-season is just over one week away.
 
The first game is June 8th with Montreal meeting Winnipeg. Exhibition play for Alberta's teams starts on June 11th when the defending Grey Cup champions from Edmonton clash with the Calgary Stampeders.
