OGs Orchestrate A Pair Of Trades

Cole Plotnikoff, Tristan Thompson and Wyatt Noskey are the newest members of the Black & Gold following a couple of CJHL deals.

A deal was struck between the AJHL's Olds Grizzlys and the BCHL's Surrey Eagles on August 10th.

Olds sent 1995 born defenceman Kodi Schwarz back to his home province in exchange for 18 year old centre Cole Plotnikoff and future considerations.

Grizzlys Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations Dana Lattery says Plotnikoff is from Surrey, B.C. and posted 11 goals in 41 games during his rookie season in the BCHL.

Schwarz was a finalist for the AJHL's Rookie of the Year trophy. The Aldergrove, B.C. product contributed 7 goals and 38 points in 56 games for Olds.

Lattery followed up the swap with Surrey by finding another trade partner in Alberta on August 17th. The Grizzlys got 20 year old forward Wyatt Noskey and 18 year old defence man Tristan Thompson from the AJHL's Dragons by shipping 19 year old forward Ty Mappin to Drumheller.

Thompson is a player Lattery has been interested in for quite some time.

He says Noskey was a big part of the Dragons first round playoff sweep over Olds last spring scoring a goal and adding 3 assists in the best of five series.

The rookie camp for the Grizzlys is August 21-23rd, while their main camp runs from the 27-30th. The annual Black & Gold game is on August 30th at 6pm at the SportsComplex.

The AJHL pre-season starts for the Grizzlys on Tuesday, September 1st with a pair of split squad games versus the Canmore Eagles - including one at 7 o'clock in Olds.

Lattery says the annual hockey school for the OGs was a very successful one with about 90 kids participating in it.
