OGs Battle For Roster Spots In Annual Black & Gold Game

The annual intrasquad game for the Olds Grizzlys was played at the SportsComplex on Sunday, August 30th in front of 332 fans.

A 4 goal third period allowed team Gold to rally past team Black 6-3.

Defenceman Nicholas Sutter from Spruce Grove tallied twice for team Gold.

Trochu's Landon Kletke had 2 goals and 2 assists. Kletke's team Gold linemates Cale Brown from Olds and Wyatt Noskey from High Prairie both had 3 assists.

Sutter liked what he saw during the local AJHL club's training camp weekend.

The 17 year old appeared in 5 regular season games plus 2 more in the playoffs last year for the Grizzlys. While Sutter did not get on the scoresheet in those games, the 6'2 210 pound blueliner did contribute 5 goals, 17 points and 85 penalty minutes in 60 games during the past 2 Midget AAA seasons with the St. Albert Raiders.

The AJHL pre-season begins for the OGs this week. They play a pair of split-squad games against the Canmore Eagles on Tuesday, September 1st. One will be in the mountains, while the other is at 7pm in Olds.
