Mavericks Move Closer To Clinching First Round RMLL Playoff Bye

The final home game of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League regular season for Olds is Saturday at 6pm against Medicine Hat and Head Coach Andy Sweetman says a win would allow the Tier 2 Junior Mavericks to finish second and clinch a first round playoff bye.

The Tier 2 Junior Mavericks thumped the Sylvan Lake Yetti 18-3 in Olds on Wednesday, June 15th.

Caden Switzer had a hat trick to help the Mavs boost their record to 11 and 3 this year.

The Lethbridge Barricudas at 12-1-1 are the only team in the South Conference with a better record than Olds. The Cudas have won 11 straight games. The Sherwood Park Titans are the top team in the North Conference with a 10 wins and 2 losses in 2016.

Mavericks Head Coach Andy Sweetman says the victory puts them in a good spot heading into the final weekend of the regular season.

On Saturday, June 18th at 6 o'clock the Mavericks will welcome the Medicine Hat Sun Devils to the SportsComplex for their final home game before the playoffs.

The regular season finale will see Olds travel to Ponoka to play the Lacoka Locos on Sunday, June 19th.
