March Madness At The RKC As OHS Hosts 3-A Boys & Girls Provincials

The anticipation continues to build as Olds High School's first ever opportunity to host the 3-A senior boys & girls provincial basketball championships is coming up this week.

March Madness comes to Olds High School this week as the Spartans are hosting the 3-A senior girls and boys provincial basketball championships.
The Spartan senior girls won their league this season and they will tip off the provincial tournament Thursday, March 17th at 10am as the 11th seed versus number 6 Wetaskiwin. That game will be played at the Ralph Klein Centre.
Grade 12 post player Katie Collin believes the Spartans can compete with the top teams in Alberta.

She thinks OHS has what it takes to contend if they stick together, use their strengths and play defense really well.
The senior boys from OHS, meanwhile, are ranked 12th. Their first game is on Thursday at 2pm at the RKC against the 5th seed - St. Peter the Apostle Catholic High School from Spruce Grove.

Cissell isn't taking the chance to play in provincials for granted.
The Spartans boys lost their league final to the Olds Koinonia Christian School Royals.
Games as part of the 3-A tournament will also be played at the Frank Grisdale Hall Gym and at Didsbury High School.
The girls championship game is on Saturday at 5:30 while the boys title game follows that night at 8.
