Local Athletes Head To 2016 ASAA Provincial Track & Field Championships

Olds High School's Athletic Director & Track Coach Wanda Vandervelden was hoping to have 6 or 7 athletes make it to this year's ASAA Provincials. 6 Spartans qualified, led by Laura Klinck who advanced to compete in four events. Alan Klinck, Thomas Rosenberger, Baylen Unger, Dawson Green and Janine Nel will represent OHS in Edmonton as well.

Six members of the Olds High School track & field team will be in Edmonton on June 3rd & 4th for the ASAA Provincial Championships.
OHS Athletic Director & Track Coach Wanda Vandervelden is proud of the recent success they had at the South Central Zone meet.
Laura Klinck will compete in four events at Provincials the intermediate 100 & 200 meter dash plus the long jump & the triple jump for the Spartans as well.
Vandervelden says the Olds High School students do extremely well, considering they do not really have proper facilities for training.
Olds Koinonia Christian School will be sending Jeremiah Houben for javelin throw and Bryce Parrott for high jump.
The Sundre High School Scorpions have 10 athletes who qualified for Provincials includind Taylor Pierunek who made it in the intermediate girls 400 meter dash, plus the 80 & 300 meter hurdles. Sundre's Claudia Minnear qualified to compete in the senior girls 80 meter hurdles & high jump.
