Forsberg, Swedes Dominate Denmark in Olds

Filip Forsberg opened the scoring midway through the 1st period, and Team Sweden never looked back last night in Olds. Sweden went on to rout Team Denmark 8 to nothing in front of 1008 fans at the SportsComplex.

Pre-competition action ahead of the 2012 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship came to Olds on Tuesday and when it did local fans were treated to a game featuring a slew of NHL draft picks.

As expected Team Sweden looked like a World Junior juggernaut in its first warm-up game against Denmark.

The Swedes dominated the Danes 8 to nothing on Tuesday in front of 1008 spectators at the SportsComplex in Olds.

Filip Forsberg opened the scoring and later added an assist - he is enjoying playing on a line with Sebastian Collberg & Victor Rask.

The highly touted Forsberg could be a top 5 pick in next spring's NHL entry draft, Collberg is also projected to go in the top 20 - Rask plays for the Calgary Hitmen and was taken in the 2nd round by the Carolina Hurricanes earlier this year.

Sweden practices in Olds again today before heading to Edmonton for another exhibition game on Friday at Rexall Place versus Team Canada.

Other World Junior warm-up games on Tuesday saw the Russians top the Americans 6-3 in Red Deer and the Czechs whip Lativa 7-1 in Okotoks.

Here is post-game reaction with Sweden's Filip Forsberg.

This is what the international hockey game in a minute sounded like.
