Fists Fly On Ice/In Stands As MV Colts Win Game 1 Of Northern Division Final

Austin Pedersen scored just 16 seconds into the best of seven playoff series as the Mountain View Colts went on to beat the Airdrie Thunder 5-1 on Wednesday, March 2nd at the Didsbury Memorial Complex.

As heard on 96.5 CKFM, things got a little rough late in the third period - both on and off the ice - as the HJHL's Northern Division Final got underway.

Colts 19 year old goaltender Thomas Della Siega from Olds says the two teams have always had a fierce rivalry.

Della Siega has started in net and won all five games for the Colts during this year's HJHL playoffs.

The line of 21 year old Austin Pedersen from Olds, 20 year old Cole Sutherland from Carstairs and 16 year Mitch Visser from Didsbury combined for 4 goals and 5 assists in the victory over the Thunder.

Pedersen was happy to start the scoring early in Game 1 and enjoys working with his linemates.

Pedersen had 2 goals and 1 assist, Sutherland had a goal and 3 helpers, while Visser scored once and set up another. 20 year old forward Jacob Vander Zaag from Alliston, Ontario rounded out the scoring for the Colts with a power play goal.

Mountain View goes to Airdrie for Game 2 of the best of seven series on Thursday, March 3rd.

The Northern Division Final shifts back to the Memorial Complex for Game 3 on Saturday night at 8:15.

Prior to that one at 6pm there is a fundraising game for the Mountain View Food Bank featuring the Olds RCMP & the Olds Fire Department versus the Carstairs & Didsbury Fire Departments.
