Bantam Elite Female Team Awarded To Olds Minor Hockey

Olds Minor Hockey was officially awarded a Bantam Female Elite team by Hockey Alberta on Friday, May 13th. The Past President of the Olds Minor Hockey Association says the town of Olds was already a bit of a hub for female hockey in the area and this will just help them out that much more, attracting younger girls to the game. Rod Bischke says 18 communities will be feeding the roster of the team as their draw zone will stretch from Oyen to Banff and Bowden to Airdrie.

The Past President of the Olds Minor Hockey Association says it has been in the works since about October or November of last year for them to try and get the Bantam Elite Female team for their zone.
Rod Bischke says they received formal confirmation from Hockey Alberta last Friday that Olds will be adding a Bantam Elite Female program in the fall.
Bischke explains where they will compete.
He says Olds will play in the South Division along with Red Deer, Lethbridge, Okotoks and two Calgary teams.
They have already had several phone calls regarding the first head coaching position for the Olds Bantam Elite Female hockey team, according to Bischke.

Bischke says Hockey Alberta will be starting up a league which will encompass the Midget Elite as well as the Bantam Elite programs.
