Another Successful Provincial Championship Bid For Olds

On the heels of last year's Pee Wee AAA Boys provincial championship tournament, a Hockey Alberta banner will once again be decided in the town of Olds this season. During a media conference in Red Deer on Tuesday, December 15th the Olds Minor Hockey Association was awarded the Midget A Female provincials.

A Hockey Alberta provincial championship tournament is coming to the town of Olds in 2016.
Brad Lyon, Senior Manager of Communications at Hockey Alberta, says the month of March will be exceptionally busy with about three dozen provincial titles up for grabs.
Lyon says Hockey Alberta was also thrilled to announce ATB Financial as the presenting sponsor for the provincial championships.
Wade Leonard, Head Coach of the Midget A Female Grizzlys, says it will be an exciting opportunity for the entire team - but especially for the 6 players who helped Olds host the first ever Atom girls provincials back in 2009.
He says winning another bid to host provincials says good things about the town of Olds.
Leonard adds, his team has gotten off to a great start this season in the Rocky Mountain Female Hockey League and he expects them to be one of the contenders for the provincial banner in Olds from March 10-13th.
The sponsoring and host announcements for the 2016 Hockey Alberta provincial championships were made on Tuesday during a media conference at the Red Deer Arena.
Lyon says, for a third year, the True Spirit of Hockey Day events will continue to be sponsored by Tundra Process Solutions.

True Spirit of Hockey Day events will be held in conjunction with the provincial championships hosted by Springbank, Oyen, Taber, High Prairie, High Level, Fort McMurray, Foothills, Drayton Valley, Grimshaw, Lacombe, Duchess, and Innisfail.

The town of Innisfail will be hosting the Atom Female provincials from March 17-20th.
