Town of Olds Online Budget Survey Results

The town of Olds is looking at this year's online budget survey as favourable pilot project. According to Chief Administrative Officer Michael Merritt, it generated over 400 visits to the town's website and 100 people completed the survey.

The town of Olds is pleased with the community participation generated by the online budget survey.
According to Chief Administrative Officer Michael Merritt, this is the first time they have tried to do use this type of tool to collect feedback from residents regarding the budget process.
Merritt says in the past only a handful of people had attended when the town set up an open house evening about the budget - so this definitely helped bring in more feedback.
He explains what some of the findings were from the town's online budget survey.
CAO Merritt adds, they also heard that residents did not want to see big increases in taxes so the town is holding the line in the proposed 2018 budget to about a 2 per cent municipal property tax increase.
The proposed 2018 budget is expected to be brought back for more discussion and potentially approval at the December 11th council meeting.
