As part of the 2018 edition of Fire Prevention Week from October 7-13, the town of Olds Fire Department will be holding its annual open house from 6:30 until 8:30pm on Wednesday, October 10th at the Emergency Services Building on 65th Avenue.
It is Fire Prevention Week and the theme this year is Look, Listen, Learn.

Fire Education Officer Jennifer Alcock-Boyd says they have lots planned for families.
The open house is Wednesday, October 10th from 6:30 until 8:30pm.
She says the best tip for families is to sit down together and draw up a fire escape plan for your home.
Alcok-Boyd also reminds to check your smoke alarms monthly, batteries yearly, and change the alarm unit itself every ten years.
The Olds Fire Department will also be making presentations in local schools this week.
Olds firefighter Noel D'Arcy is going to try to get his name into the Guiness World Record book on Sunday, August 18th.
D'Arcy will also be raising money for the Terry Fox Foundation when he puts on full firefighting gear - including an air tank and breathing through the apparatus - in order to run in the Servus Edmonton Marathon.
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and the Minister responsible for Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD), has announced over $1.9 million in Regional Innovation Ecosystems (RIE) funding towards Olds College to bolster Alberta’s agriculture industry.
This is the 7th year for Alberta Open Farm Days. The event runs on Saturday, August 18th and Sunday, August 19th. It includes tours of farms from around the province and a chance to learn from producers.
A change in leadership is on the horizon for the town of Didsbury. Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Harold Northcott has accepted the CAO position with the County of Vermilion River and will start his new job there in early September. Northcott has tendered his resignation to the town of Didsbury and Mayor Rhonda Hunter hopes to see a new interim CAO in place by the end of August or early next month.
The AgSmart expo began on Tuesday, August 13th. The two-day show at Olds College started with a number demonstrations and a session with Robert Saik as he launched his book "Food 5.0: How We Feed The Future".
