Students Impress at Science Fair

A number of local students placed well at this year's Mountain View Science and Technology Fair.

157 students from across central Alberta took part in this past weekend's Mountain View Science and Technology Fair in Olds.

Students of all ages took part in the annual event, including 5 from Olds High School and several from Deer Meadow School and Olds Elementary.

OHS science teacher Marilyn Wallace talks about why this science fair is so important for her students.

Olds High School students Taylor McDonald and Michael Moroz placed in the gold medal category and won the first best of fair award.

Wallace talks about their project.

Wallace says she's extremely grateful for the continued support of Olds College when it comes to mentoring students.

Students who received medals from grades 5-12 will head to the Regional Science Fair in Red Deer at the end of March.

From there, winners will go to the National Science Fair, which will be held in Prince Edward Island.

Wallace says that schools in Olds have sent students to nationals nearly every year.
