Solid Waste Rates Going Up To Cover Cost of Blue Bin Recycling Program

The Town Of Olds Expects Blue Bins To Be Delivered To All Residential Customers By Mid-April.

Olds council approved an increase of $1.50 per month to the town's solid waste rates on Monday afternoon (March 9th).

Moving the rate from $2 dollars up to $3.50 for residential customers will cover the cost of operating the new blue bin recycling program.

CAO Norm McInnis says it is part of the town's plan to meet some lofty provincial 'landfill diversion' goals.

McInnis says the first blue bin curb-side pickup for the entire community of Olds is expected to take place the third week in May.
