At the November 24th meeting, Olds council learned more about the auxiliary RCMP members who provide valuable assistance to the local detachment.
4 auxiliary RCMP members are sacrificing time and money to help keep Olds and area safe.
The volunteer position requires them to spend a minimum of 160 hours on the job each year. Constable Dale Bereza is the auxiliary coordinator for the Olds detachment.
After transferring to the Olds detachment in August of 2012, Constable Bereza took on the role of auxiliary coordinator. He is proud to say Olds has gone from zero, up to a full compliment of 4 auxiliary RCMP members.
He says auxiliary members basically attend everything RCMP officers are called to including domestic violence, bar fights, break & enters.
Constable Bereza was part of a delegation with 3 of the local auxiliary members that appeared before town council during Monday night's meeting.
Derek Jacobsen, John Lavoie, Jim Bystrom and Peter Waycott are the 4 auxiliary members for the Olds RCMP detachment.
