Olds RCMP - Victoria Day Long Weekend Safety Tips

Olds RCMP are passing along a few traffic safety reminders as they wish local residents and visitors a safe Victoria Day long weekend.

With the May long weekend among us, Alberta RCMP will notice a significant increase in traffic on the roadways and provincial highways.
 
Corporal Courtney Harding with the Olds RCMP Detachment reminds motorists to take your time and plan ahead.
 
 
Corporal Harding reminds drivers not to overload if they are pulling a trailer and to ensure brake lights and mirrors are working efficiently.
 
She also encourages motorcyclists to wear the proper gear.
 
For those who are traveling out of town, Olds RCMP advise residents to secure their property to deter potential thieves
 
She says to lock up everything on the property and make sure valuables are out of site.
 
 
During the long weekend Corporal Harding says Olds RCMP expect to see an increase in traffic through town as recreational vehicles and trailers head out west.
 
If it is the first RV trip of the year or if you are pulling a holiday trailer, Corporal Courtney Harding encourages motorists to check their equipment.
