Olds RCMP - Anti-Drug Initiative

RCMP rely on the community to report suspicious activities to the police, that is according to Corporal Shawn Morgan. He says the Olds RCMP detachment's 2017 anti-drug initiative continues. The goal is to give community stakeholders and citizens tools to reduce substance abuse and be more drug aware. Corporal Morgan says all information is confidential and anonymous, the local Report a Drug House line is 403-586-TIPS.

The Olds RCMP Detachment continues to educate and prevent the use of illegal and illicit drugs in an over 800 square kilometer area.

The area includes almost 15,000 people, according toCorporal Shawn Morgan with the Olds RCMP.

He says their 2017 anti-drug initiative includes an educational aspect for citizens to be more drug aware.

Corporal Morgan says there is also an RCMP Drugs and Trends mobile app for Android and Apple products which provides timely and convenient access to a wide range of information about drugs in Canada.

Also via phone, he says citizens can report suspicious homes in Olds and the surrounding areas.

Corporal Morgan says their Report a Drug House crime prevention line is a local way of reporting incidents.

He says Olds RCMP have responded to their fair share of drug incidents.

Corporal Morgan adds - in partnership with Olds Rural Crime Watch - Olds RCMP received a grant to help with the anti-drug initiative from the Proceeds of Crime and Drug Awareness and Prevention through Alberta Justice and the Solicitor General.
