Olds Council Supports Tour Of Alberta Stopping In Town

Premier cyclists from around the world could be crossing the Tour of Alberta's stage two-finish line in Mountain View County/Olds this September.

Olds town council has put its support behind Mountain View County/Olds being the host community for the stage two-finish line of the 2016 Tour of Alberta.
This will be the fourth edition of the Tour of Alberta. Each year it features dozens of cycling competitors from around the globe who have won national championships and major WorldTour events.
Chief Operating Officer Doug Wagstaff says a major marquee event like this offers plenty of economic impact potential and it will bring festival entertainment to Olds as well.
He adds - at the Monday, April 11th meeting - town council approved a contribution of $15,000 towards the franchise fee for hosting the special event.
Wagstaff says town administration will continue to work with its community partners as well as the Tour of Alberta and more information will be brought back to council later this month.
This year's Tour of Alberta participants could cross the stage two-finish line in Mountain View County/Olds during the afternoon of Friday, September 2nd at the start of the Labour Day long weekend.
