Smalldon says the issue for many years has been under funding of the contract by AHS - the money received to deliver health care.

Smalldon adds MVSH has been in discussions with AHS, but at this point it is unresolved and there have been no offers from AHS to resolve it.

Smalldon says the Board will continue to work with AHS to make a smooth transition for all involved.

Smalldon notes AHS funding has been inadequate to provide the level of quality care MVSH believes in, requiring ongoing support through municipal requisitions.

According to Smalldon, the board has discussed and questioned involvement in delivery of health care for a number of years.

The Board contends health care is a provincial and an AHS responsibility, as a result it should not fall on the shoulders of municipal taxpayers.
