Members Approve Merger Of Eckville And Mountain View Credit Unions

A special general meeting on Wednesday, June 22nd saw members of the Eckville District Savings & Credit Union vote in favour of a partnership with Mountain View Credit Union. MVCU members had already unanimously voted in favour of it at their membership meeting on Monday, June 20th.

Members of the Eckville District Savings & Credit Union will be able to access their banking through a larger network of branches, according to the Vice President of Operations with Mountain View Credit Union.

Stephen Brezinski says this is being done with a merger of the Eckville and Mountain View Credit Unions that members approved this month.

He notes the merger is a joining of two strong Credit Unions.

Brezinski adds the board decided the name will remain as Mountain View Credit Union, so Eckville District Savings & Credit Union will no longer be used.

The two will legally amalgamate on August 1st. Visit www.GrowingOurCUtogether.ca for more details about the partnership.

MVCU officials say the new credit union will serve over 17,000 members with 130 employees in 13 branches throughout Central Alberta.
