Dayton Sutherland wound up with the top aggregate time during the World Professional Chuckwagon Association's Battle of the Rockies. The 2018 season is now over and for the third time in four years the World Champion is Kurt Bensmiller.
That is what the final heat of the 2018 World Professional Chuckwagon Association season sounded like on 96.5 CKFM on Sunday, August 19th.
Despite not crossing the finishline first, Kurt Bensmiller still earned enough points over the weekend in Rocky Mountain House to be crowned this year's World Champion.The 35 year old from Dewberry has now won the world title in three of the last four seasons.
He also won in 2015 and 2017. This year Bensmiller wound up with 1290 and a half points to finish 94 and a half points ahead of Vern Nolin. Nolin had 1196.
Meantime, the top aggregate time during the Battle of the Rockies in Rocky Mountain House belonged to Dayton Sutherland. Here is what heat 2 sounded like on Sunday on 96.5 CKFM.
A total running time of 5:03.12 gave the 20 year old Sutherland his first career victory.
This is the second season on the tour for the third generation chuckwagon driver from DeWinton. He was the WPCA's rookie of the year in 2017.
Dayton is the grandson of chuckwagon legend Kelly Sutherland and the son of fellow driver Mark Sutherland.
