Help Shape Farm & Ranch Safety

The provincial government is inviting Albertans to provide input on how occupational health and safety rules could apply to the unique nature of farms and ranches.

Balancing the need for worker safety and continuing to uphold the farm family way of life is the mission for the Alberta Government's occupational health and safety rules on farms and ranches.

Alberta Labour Minister Christina Gray says farmers and ranchers have until January 15th, 2018 to provide their feedback on occupational health and safety rules, with information provided by technical working groups.

The members on the technical working groups include stakeholders from farms and ranches, workers, owners, technical experts, and researchers.

The panel is recommending G-S-T rebates, government grants and other measures to offset the cost of new occupational health and safety rules for farmers and ranchers.

Minister Gray says there are a number of recommendations.

Minister Gray adds once all feedback is collected, it will be reviewed and compared to the working group's recommendations.

Albertans can provide feedback online at alberta.ca/farm-and-ranch or email farmandranch@gov.ab.ca.
