Graysen Cameron Back With Broncos In Humboldt For SJHL Team's 50th Anniversary Season

When the Humboldt Broncos start the new SJHL regular season this weekend, Graysen Cameron from Olds will return to their line-up. The 20 year old right winger has worked his way into game shape following back fusion surgery to correct injuries he suffered in the team's tragic bus crash 17 months ago. He will have many friends from Olds attending the Broncos regular season opener in Humboldt versus the Notre Dame Hounds on Saturday, September 14th.

Graysen Cameron from Olds is ready to step back into the line-up for the Humboldt Broncos when they start the SJHL regular season on Saturday, September 14th at home versus the Notre Dame Hounds.

The shocking collision between the Broncos team bus and a semi-truck in April of 2018 on the way to a playoff game in Nipawin, Saskatchewan claimed the lives of 16 people and injured 13 more - including Cameron.

The 20 year old right winger has worked his way into game shape following back fusion surgery to correct the injuries he suffered in the crash.

Graysen explains what he learned from a year of serving as an Assistant Coach with one of his former teams - the Red Deer Midget AAA Optimist Chiefs.

Cameron had the opportunity to work with the Calgary Flames organization and some of their NHL prospects to train "like the pros" during his comeback.

He was also able to play lacrosse in Olds this summer to help him get used to being hit again.

Cameron says the entire Humboldt Broncos organization has been very supportive of his efforts to return to their line-up.

Graysen says he has already been able to participate in training camp and a couple of Humboldt's SJHL pre-season games.

He is excited to be part of the Broncos regular season opener as part of the organization's 50th anniversary campaign.

Graysen says wherever the coaches decide he fits in the Broncos line-up will be fine with him. He just wants to play his game as a hard hitting, hard working forward.

As a rookie in the SJHL in 2017-2018, Graysen collected 5 goals and 8 points along with 45 penalty minutes in 32 games.

Cameron has some of his friends driving out to see Saturday's game, so he says there will be lots of people from Olds in Humboldt to cheer him on.
