Enhanced Policing Delegation Attends MV County's Policies & Priorities Meeting

Enhanced policing was on the agenda during Mountain View County's policies & priorities meeting on Wednesday, December 6th. Client Services Officer for the RCMP Shane Ramteemal was in attendance along with Didsbury RCMP's Acting Detachment Commander Chad Fournier.

Mountain View County council heard a presentation about enhanced policing at the policies and priorities committee meeting on Wednesday, December 6th.

Client Services Officer for the RCMP Shane Ramteemal was in attendance along with Didsbury RCMP's Acting Detachment Commander Chad Fournier.

Ramteemal says they were invited by the county to present the guidelines about requesting enhanced policing services.

He says enhanced policing could be used as a school resource officer, traffic enforcement, dedicated drug enforcement and crime prevention.

Ramteemal adds there was a spike in property crimes last year and in 2017 it has decreased compared to recent years.

Didsbury RCMP Acting Detachment Commander Chad Fournier says there would be enough duties for additional officers.

Ramteemal adds this was just an informational presentation and Mountain View County would have to make a motion during a regular council meeting if they want to move forward with enhanced policing.
