Didsbury & Olds RCMP Make Arrests In Relation To Armed Robbery In Cremona

Three males from Red Deer have been arrested following a report of an armed robbery at a motel in Cremona.

Didsbury, Alberta ~ On Thursday, January 16th members of the Didsbury and Olds RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery.

Two males wearing masks had entered a motel in Cremona with a long barrel firearm and demanded cash from the employee. They were unsuccessful in obtaining any money and fled in a black Hyundai Elantra with a third male suspect behind the wheel.

A short time later, a report was received that a small black car had slid off the road east of Cremona near range road 34. An area resident called police as the three occupants and vehicle appeared suspicious. Police attended the location and confirmed that the vehicle was the same used in the robbery. It was determined that the three males were driven by another area resident to the McDonald's in Olds.

Members of the Didsbury and Olds detachments, assisted by RCMP Red Deer Police Dog Section and RCMP Auto Theft South, immediately attended the McDonald's and arrested the three suspects without incident.

The three males, ages 35, 34 and 27 and all from Red Deer, are currently in custody awaiting bail hearings and charges related to the armed robbery. Their names will not be released until formal charges are laid.
