Colton Andrson From Olds Sets New HJHL All-time Scoring Record

Mountain View Colts forward Colton Anderson recorded 5 points in the first 2 games of the season and as a result he is now the Heritage Junior Hockey League's all-time leading scorer.

Colton Anderson from Olds is the brand new all-time leading scorer in Heritage Junior Hockey League history.

The 20 year old had a goal and 4 assists during the season opening weekend for the Mountain View Colts at the Didsbury Memorial Complex.

The previous record holder was Lacombe's Kyle Maas who had 241 points between 2008 and 2011 with the Blackfalds Wranglers, but Anderson has now moved into first place all-time with 243 points.

Anderson has 243 points - including 105 goals - in 183 career games in the HJHL. He set career highs with 30 goals and 67 points in 37 games last year.

As Colton notes playing with his older brother Braeden was a big reason why he first joined the Colts. Anderson was also asked if he knew how close he was to setting a new league scoring record.

This is Colton's 6th season in the HJHL. He and Braeden were able to play together with Mountain View from 2012 until 2014.

Meanwhile, the Mountain View Colts collected 3 out of a possible 4 points during their home opening weekend.

The organization used the Friday, September 22nd home opener as a memorial night for assistant coach Randy "Buck" Thomas. Thomas passed away suddenly on August 5th.

The Ride for Dad hosted a Colts pre-game tailgate party and a special 50/50 draw in Thomas' honour helped raise $1813 dollars for the local Kids Sport charity.

Mountain View got a pair of goals from Sylvan Lake's Josh Gette and 35 saves from Innisfail's Reid Money in Friday's 6-4 win versus Ponoka.

On Saturday, Colton Anderson had a goal and 2 assists but the Colts dropped a 6-5 overtime decision to Medicine Hat.

The MV Colts carry a 1-0-1 record into their next action against the Copperheads in Coaldale on Saturday, September 30th.
