Kyle Lucas from Carstairs made the fifth Canadian Finals Rodeo appearance of his career last week at CFR 45 in Red Deer. Lucas won round 4, finished second in the aggregate and wound up second in Canada this season in earnings with more than $63,000 dollars.

Kyle Lucas from Carstairs finished second in tie-down roping at CFR 45.

The 24 year old wound up just over seventeen-hundred dollars back of the winner - Louisiana's Shane Hanchey.

Lucas says it was a dream come true to be introduced as one of the top two competitors ahead of the final performance of the Canadian Finals Rodeo on Sunday in Red Deer.

Lucas won round 4 of CFR 45 with a time of 7.9 seconds. He also tied for second, placed third and tied for third during the 6 nights of competition. He wound up second in the aggregate and his final earnings total in Canada this season was just over $63,000 dollars.

Lucas had finished seventh in tie-down roping in 2017 during the last edition of the CFR in Edmonton with a little more than $36,000 dollars in earnings.

Up next he will be flying down to Louisiana where he will be staying and practicing up for the winter rodeos.

Kyle's dad Joe went to the Canadian Finals Rodeo a total of 22 times in his career and won the tie-down roping title in 1983, 1986, 1988 and 1997.
