From a general perspective, Chinook's Edge School Division is pleased with the Alberta budget announcement.
The Superintendent of Schools for CESD says it is about as good as they could have expected, given the current economic climate in the province.
According to Kurt Sacher, Chinook's Edge could benefit from the money being put aside for new modernization projects and future ones.
The 2016 Alberta budget has $7.9 million earmarked for education and it fully funds the projected enrolment growth of 1.3 per cent. Sacher talks about how that impacts CESD.
When it comes to transportation, Sacher says one of the concerns they have is how the carbon tax would affect spending. He adds, CESD has not been able to find any new funding in the budget at this time for transportation.
Sacher notes transportation costs have been a major concern for Chinook's Edge for quite some time now.
