Bowhay Family From Sundre Presented With MV County's 2019 Farm Family Award

2019 BMO Farm Families from a total of 19 municipal districts in Southern Alberta will be honoured at an award ceremony held on Monday, July 8th at the Calgary Stampede.

Every year the Calgary Stampede and BMO Bank of Montreal recognize outstanding farm families in southern Alberta.

Municipal districts have nominated one familiy each and Mountain View County's 2019 Farm Family Award was presented on Wednesday, July 3rd to the Bowhay Family from Sundre.

Jim Bowhay says it is quite an honour, they do what they can in the community and it is nice to be recognized.

Rodeo has been a big part of their life as well, according to Bowhay.

Jim is a four-time Canadian champion and three-time Calgary Stampede champ in wild cow milking. His son Carson followed in his footsteps by winning the national title in 2009.

Nola says as a rural farm family 4-H has been a big part of life for their children Carson, Arleta, Bronwen and Dayla.

In 2011 Arleta Bowhay was Miss Rodeo Canada, while Bronwen was Miss Rodeo Sundre.

Bronwen talks about growing up on their mixed farming operation.

Jim & Nola Bowhay run a mixed farming operation on about 1,800 acres in Sundre.
