Friday, November 1st at CFR 46 in Red Deer was dubbed Rodeo Royalty Day. For Trochu's Alicia Erickson it wound up being a life changing day as she was crowned Miss Rodeo Canada 2020.

Trochu's Alicia Erickson will never forget CFR 46.

Miss Ponoka Stampede 2018 was named Miss Rodeo Canada 2020 on Friday, November 1st during the 2019 edition of the Canadian Finals Rodeo.

Erickson breaks down the categories involved in the MRC 2020 competition.

The 23 year old credits her time as an equine 4-H leader for helping her in the public speaking category.

She was up against 5 others in the competition - including Miss Rodeo Sundre 2017 Alisa Brace.

Erickson describes what happened when she heard her name called as the winner.

She notes that her mother was a pageant winner as well.

A love of horses developed at a young age for Erickson.

The Ponoka Stampede committee has been very supportive of her participation in the Miss Rodeo Canada competition.

She thanks everyone who has been a part of her journey to achieving the title of Miss Rodeo Canada 2020.

As for prizes, Erickson says there is quite a windfall.

A travel filled 2020 for Erickson will begin with a trip south of the border to Denver.

Erickson's background includes plenty of volunteering hours spent as a horse-back riding instructor and a CanSkate Coach.
