from spinner.com - Them Crooked Vultures have confirmed their intention of recording a follow-up to their hugely successful debut later this year. Now Grohl has announced the return of Foo Fighters, albeit to the studio at least. Speaking to BBC 6 Music, Grohl confirmed that time has been set aside at the end of the summer for Foo Fighters to enter the studio and start work on their seventh album, their first since 2007's 'Echoes, Silence And Grace.' He said, Foo Fighters have just started writing and we're going to start recording in September so life is full of music. Them Crooked Vultures, meanwhile, are still in full flight. They headline one of Who singer Roger Daltrey's Teenage Cancer Trust gigs at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Mar. 22 before heading to California in April for the Coachella festival and then winding up at the Download festival in the UK in June, appearing with rock behemoths AC/DC.

Andrew W-K is working on a book and you can probably guess already what it's about -- partying. He says it won't be fiction, but about him and his ideas. He calls it the literary equivalent of whatever he's done as a performer. He also owns a club in New York, and he says he created an atmosphere where everybody is cool and it's fun to dance. As if that's not enough, Andrew W-K is also releasing his ``lost'' third album, ``Close Calls With Brick Walls.'' It was only released in Asia. He's also offering an album of rare tracks called ``Mother of Mankind.''

Run to the hills, haters — Iron Maiden are headed back to Canada this summer. The British metal sextet will play seven shows from Vancouver to Quebec on their Final Frontier 2010 North American tour, the band announced Thursday. The tour is named after the band's 15th studio album Final Frontier, expected to be released after the tour. June 26 They play Edmonton, but no Calgary show.

The group members have been bickering ever since frontman Steven Tyler announced plans to quit the band and enjoy a two-year hiatus late last year, but the war of words ended last month when Aerosmith announced a string of European dates with the singer this summer. And now the group has gathered to shoot a South American tour announcement video. In the short clip, Tyler states, Hey, South America, guess who? My Chemical Romance is down a drummer. The band writes on its website drummer Bob Bryar left the band four weeks ago. They don't say why, only that it was a painful decision and they wish him the best of luck. No word on who will replace Bryar. My Chemical Romance has been working on a new album.

From Contactmusic.com - PETER GABRIEL's ambitious plans to have the artists he covers on his new orchestral album SCRATCH MY BACK record renditions of his songs have hit a snag - DAVID BOWIE doesn't want to join the fun. Gabriel's new album features his rendition of Bowie's Heroes and the rocker had hoped to persuade the reclusive star to tackle something of his for the follow-up, I'll Scratch Yours - but the Let's Dance singer has turned down the offer. Instead, Brian Eno, who co-wrote Heroes with Bowie, will cover Gabriel for the album, alongside Paul Simon, Randy Newman and Neil Young.

The man behind the Ramat Gan stadium show - the band's first concert in Israel since 1999 - upset fans when he announced all tickets for the gig would sell for upwards of $159. And more than 500 Metallica-mad music fans committed to boycott the concert as part of a Facebook.com campaign. But Tomer Mussman and Rotem Horovitz, who sparked the protest, have now agreed to drop the boycott after coming to an agreement with promoter Marcel Avram. They write, After a four-day campaign, tens of news items about us worldwide, over 6,000 supporters and numerous media interviews, we can say that we did it! We won!

A judge in New York City has granted Ozzy Osbourne permission to move forward with his lawsuit against former bandmate Tony Iommi over the use of the name Black Sabbath. The British rocker filed suit against the guitarist last May, accusing Iommi of falsely proclaiming to be the sole owner of the Black Sabbath title by lodging an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Osbourne is demanding a 50 per cent stake in the Black Sabbath trademark, along with a portion of Iommi's profits from use of the name, claiming his signature lead vocals are largely responsible for the band's success.

Avery co-founded the band in the mid-1980s and rejoined frontman Perry Farrell for a 2008 reunion. He announced his plans to quit via a Twitter.com post on Monday stating, With equal parts regret and relief, the Jane's Addiction experiment is at an end. Hall and Oates bassist T-Bone Wolk has died. He suffered an apparent heart attack on Saturday at the age of 58. Daryl Hall calls Wolk one of the most sensitive and good human beings that he has ever known. John Oates says any instrument Wolk touched resonated with a sensitivity and skill level that he has never experienced while playing with any other musician. Wolk had played with Hall and Oates since their ``Private Eyes'' album in 1981. He's the only one who doesn't dance in the ``Private Eyes'' video. The fashion side of Elvis is on display at Graceland. The exhibit called ``Elvis Presley: Fashion King'' showcases Elvis' handmade shirts and casual suits, as well as his scarves, top coats and hats. His 220-diamond necklace and 11.5-carat diamond solitaire ring is also on display. The exhibit runs through March 2012. Graceland is also running an exhibit on Elvis' life before the fame and a separate one on the evolution of his stage costumes.

Jon Bon Jovi won't be spending his down time on tour whooping it up at swanky bars and celebrity parties. He's going to hang out with alcoholics and the homeless instead. Bon Jovi says their tour in support of the band's new album, ``The Circle,'' will also be a fact-finding mission for him and his charity. He plans to visit homeless shelters, a program for alcoholics in Seattle and a squatters village in Sacramento. Bon Jovi says he's looking for ideas for his work with the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum owns a lot more memorabilia than what's on exhibit. Later this year, you'll be able to see that other stuff too. The Rock Hall is moving photos, recordings, albums, scrap books and other items three kilometres away from the museum in Cleveland to a building it shares with the Cuyahoga Community College. The other building will have things like Jim Morrison's first poem, video from the 1981-82 Rolling Stones tour and personal letters from the Grateful Dead, Whitney Houston and Patti Smith. Aging L-P records will be digitized and available for listening.

Neil Young blew out the Olympic torch. Young played the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver last night, singing ``Long May You Run'' as the Olympic cauldron was extinguished. He was the opening act for William Shatner, who gave a spoken-word piece on why he loves Canada. Michael Buble' (boo-BLAY') dressed as a Canadian Mountie, then stripped off the coat to reveal a white tux. He sang on a giant mountie hat. Avril Lavigne and Nickelback also performed, although viewers of N-B-C's coverage had to stay up late to watch it. Just as Lavigne was about to perform, N-B-C cut to its new show, ``The Marriage Ref.''
